Reviews
Talaash belongs to the genre of cinema noir of which there are few examples in recent times. This film is a great strive at revisiting suspense flicks that have been a huge craze in the 50-60s. To bring Gen-Now up to speed, returned then movies like CID, Mera Saya, Woh Kaun Thi weaved magic on celluloid for customers returned then. But, make no mistake here. Though, Talaash has the mystique of the cinema Raj Khosla; it is modern-day in its technique and the putting is contemporary.
The plot revolves around a bizarre high profile demise of a movie big name Armaan Kapoor (Vivaan Bhatena). Aamir Khan (Surjan Singh Shekhawat) is the cop in rate of the case. The clues lead him to Mumbai’s red-mild place wherein he jostles between pimps and prostitutes searching out answers.
It’s also revealed that Surjan is married to Roshni (Rani Mukerji). But he is like a guy possessed at the job due to a touchy incident in his life.
In a bid to bury his head within the sand and break out his personal demons, he directs all his energies into his khaki uniform.
Coming to the Armaan Kapoor case, essential clues maintain taking him to a running girl called Rosie (Kareena Kapoor). Between piecing the mystery together, the cop and the call-girl, broaden a relationship that goes barely past the regular.
In the performance department, Aamir Khan have to pat himself on his lower back for a superlative act; he’s a powerhouse, ideal from frame one to 10. This superstar-actor need to also be lauded for elevating the bar in his choice of films and roles, unlike a lot of his contemporaries who neither have the inclination nor the capability to transport faraway from the 'mould’ they were typecast in.
